Brief description

Independent and self-organized work in international team, systematic and analytic investigation and solution of a problem, these are basic elements of engineers’ work in enterprises. Students learn to apply their knowledge independently to real and actual problems and to work in an international team.

Teaching and learning outcomes

  1. Task analysis and definition of objectives
  2. Time schedule with mile stones
  3. Literature research and procurement of information
  4. Data analysis
  5. Establishing possible solution concepts
  6. Technical and economic assessment of selected solutions
  7. Presentation of results
  8. Project report

Recommended prior knowledge

Basic technical knowledge in an engineering context

Knowledge Broadening

The students

  • know approaches for project management
  • can categorise typical project management risks
  • can give examples of solutions for typical problems in projects

Knowledge deepening

The students

  • elaborate solutions or solution approaches in given time limits, for parts of the task within the project subject
  • can analyze complex problem structures in the project
  • know the mechanisms of information procurement.

Knowledge Understanding

Students apply different specialized and advanced procedures, competences, techniques and materials in order to get through the problem thoroughly.

Application and Transfer

The students apply standard and advanced methods and procedures to solve the task. They utilize or create data in order to assess these and to attend the objectives of the task.
