- Special features of the module
The module is intended to promote and enable interdisciplinary and international project work and to serve as a structural interface for internal and external collaborations.
- Brief description
Media &Interaction Designers work on different complex projects in a domain between design and technology and within interdisciplinary teams. The competence to ideate, plan and implement projects holistically and interdisciplinary is one of the key competences of Media &Interaction Designers.
- Teaching and learning outcomes
- Project planning and project management in the context of creative design work
- Design methods and design ideation
- Iterative design process
- Practical deepening of communication skills in presentation, documentation and dialogical work in an interdisciplinary and international group context
- Overall workload
The total workload for the module is 300 hours (see also "ECTS credit points and grading").
- Teaching and learning methods
Lecturer based learning Hours of workload Type of teaching Media implementation Concretization 4 Individual coaching - Lecturer independent learning Hours of workload Type of teaching Media implementation Concretization 20 Preparation/follow-up for course work - 130 Creation of examinations - 146 Work in small groups -
- Graded examination
- Project Report, medial
- Ungraded exam
- Field work / Experimental work
- Remark on the assessment methods
The ungraded examination performance in the module is understood as the basis of the graded examination performance. The result is described in the project report and presented in a presentation.
- Exam duration and scope
Graded examination performance
- Project report (medial): approx. 25 pages, illustrative, photographic, filmic representations
Ungraded examination performance
- Experimental work: approx. 3-month design work from the context of the course.
- Recommended prior knowledge
All modules of levels 1 & 2
- Knowledge Broadening
The students are able to solve design problems from the context of HCI (Human Computer Interaction) and the design of time based media in a methodically manner and based on user-oriented design principles.
- Knowledge deepening
Students are able to solve the design problems they have been assigned with by applying technological and design skills they have already been set up with;; they furthermore acquire more specific knowledge if required to solve the problem.
- Knowledge Understanding
Students are able to solve design problems, conceptually, methodically, as well as using different technologies for their design. They recognize the appropriate technology for a specific solution and use it.
- Application and Transfer
Students are able to apply their design skills in interdisciplinary groups and in the context of an iterative design process. They are able to coordinate this process and direct it in a results-oriented manner.
- Academic Innovation
Students can develop, prototype and evaluate products, services and systems on
the basis of user requirements as well as technological and social
developments.
- Communication and Cooperation
Students are able to articulate their design decisions in a scientifically, artistically and economically correct and appropriate manner depending on various communicative situations. They can describe their design argumentatively and present it professionally.
- Academic Self-Conception / Professionalism
Students are aware of the ethical dimension of their design and constantly evaluate their actions within the design process.
