Knowledge Broadening

Students can rely on their abilities to apply scientific concepts and theories in a practice-oriented way. In doing so, they are able to classify phenomena in politics and social sciences both knowledge-based and with a critical distance. In this way, they achieve a balanced understanding of structural challenges in politics and society, which everyone will be confronted with again and again in their later professional and everyday lives.

Knowledge deepening

By studying this module, students have basic knowledge of social science theories and methods of analysis of social structures and processes and can critically reflect and analyse communication processes. They are able to apply the different theories to concrete problem areas for analysis purposes.

Knowledge Understanding

Students are able to use their knowledge of social and political sciences in such a way that they contribute to a better understanding of problems and challenges for themselves and others. They use this understanding to counter prejudices, hasty classifications and thus strengthen social and democratic structures.

Academic Innovation

This module represents the idea of applied science: the focus is on the concrete handling of social and political phenomena. The work in this module is based on research findings, but is concretely oriented towards practice. The resulting knowledge and skills will be reflected in later modules, which will then focus on research-based learning.

Communication and Cooperation

Students learn practically effective communicative skills in the form of discussing, arguing, presenting, explaining, listening and systematising. They can analyse and present political and social contexts and develop solutions to problems.
