- Knowledge Broadening
Students broaden their knowledge of the connections between politics, the public sector and societal challenges. They deal with current developments in digitalisation and their effects and classify the consequences of digital innovations for different social and political contexts.
- Knowledge deepening
Students deepen their knowledge of the public sector. They understand mechanisms and effects of the interconnectedness of the public and the economy, politics and society. They compare the effects of different phases of digitalisation and different facets of digital innovations and classify them against the background of their consequences for a democratic society. Through the method of research-based learning, they deepen knowledge and link it to concrete phenomena.
- Knowledge Understanding
The students critically question the effects of digitalisation processes. They reflect on how structures and developments are mutually dependent and systematically analyse influencing factors that contribute to continuous changes in the state, economy and society.
- Application and Transfer
Students use research results to interpret problems and challenges of the digital transformation. With a view to the public sector, they can assess potentials, opportunities and risks and develop approaches to solutions for concrete practical problems. Using application-related examples, they develop concepts for overcoming concrete challenges in professional practice.
- Academic Innovation
The module focuses on digitalisation and is thus also studied in the sense of research-based learning itself. Based on concrete problems, the development of digitalisation and its effects are traced and critically analysed on the basis of current research findings from the social, political and administrative sciences. On this basis, the students develop concrete solutions and concepts for selected current problems and systematically apply scientific research methods in the sense of inquiry-based learning.
- Communication and Cooperation
The methods and skills used in the module contribute to the students' ability to communicate technical and practical solutions to problems. The students are able to defend these solutions argumentatively in discourse. They are able to take different perspectives and to work on tasks from these positions and to develop concepts relevant to practice.
- Academic Self-Conception / Professionalism
Students acquire a comprehensive basis of factual and methodological knowledge. Building on this, they develop decision-making skills that are applicable not only in their future professional life, but also in their social environment. They are able to classify challenges of digitalisation according to the situation and to deal with them productively.
