Special features of the module

The module teaches the theoretical basics (vocational and occupational pedagogical knowledge) for passing the trainer examination. In cooperation with the Osnabrück Chamber of Skilled Crafts, the practical examination can be taken externally there (for a fee) and thus the qualification ("trainer's license") can be proven.

Brief description

Competencies in personnel management are an important prerequisite for academic specialists and managers in the construction industry in order to be able to successfully design and develop business processes. Vocational and occupational pedagogy teaches the fundamentals required for this on the basis of four fields of action, which relate to both the overall company view and the trainer view. Based on their own practical experience, students are enabled to reflect critically, transfer theory from practice and optimize design in the area of conflict between pedagogical, business management and legal requirements. The perspective is systematically extended to personnel recruitment, personnel management, personnel development and personnel retention of trainees and employees as a whole. The competencies taught include the requirements of the chamber examination in accordance with the Ordinance on Trainer Aptitude of 21.1.2009.

Knowledge Broadening

The students acquire comprehensive, process- and quality-oriented knowledge in the fields of action of in-company training management (planning, preparation, implementation, conclusion). They develop a critical understanding of vocational pedagogical methods, relevant theories and concepts of the vocational training system, development and learning psychology, leadership and communication styles and vocational training and labor law. In particular, they understand the key role of the concept of competence for vocational and occupational pedagogical action. They justify the special legal regulations of the training relationship, compare them with those of the employee status and are able to assess the possibilities for shaping and participating from a company perspective.

Knowledge deepening

Students deepen their knowledge by reflecting, interpreting and evaluating their own operational experiences in the field of training management in a new way. They perform a theory-practice-theory transfer and develop a deeper understanding of operational personnel development and its potential for improvement.

Knowledge Understanding

Students use vocational and occupational pedagogical methods appropriately. They can apply and interpret the provisions of the relevant laws. They can apply, document and justify what they have learned in a practical training unit.

Application and Transfer

Students will be able to plan, manage and evaluate training as a quality-guided process, taking into account the relevant stakeholders. They are able to select training measures in a mission- and business process-oriented manner, to justify them pedagogically, economically and legally, to cooperate with involved stakeholders inside and outside the company in a purposeful and knowledgeable manner and to develop their own concepts for quality assurance. They are able to deal with relevant laws and use their scope. They can provide professional impetus within the framework of the employee life cycle from personnel recruitment, through personnel retention and development, to personnel redundancy within their company.

Academic Innovation

Students who have successfully completed this module will be able to reflect on the constantly changing requirements from professional practice and transfer them as instructors to quality development in practical vocational training.

Communication and Cooperation

In exemplary exercises and role plays, students learn to accompany trainees in concrete training situations and to give feedback on the learning status. They can prepare information for management in a relevant and decision-oriented manner. They will be able to deal with conflicts in discussion and attempt to resolve them.

Academic Self-Conception / Professionalism

Trainers have a significant influence on quality in vocational education and training.
Students who have successfully completed this module learn that the quality of training in companies is ensured by legal provisions, regulations for the suitability of the training facility and for the personal and professional suitability of the training personnel. Furthermore, an appreciative culture of communication and discussion with the trainees is of central importance for successful training.
