Brief description

Additional courses worth at least 4 SWS must be attended which represent an in-depth study in the areas of theatre pedagogy or performing arts. The Institute for Theatre Pedagogy offers a selection of elective courses (so-called "Wahlangebote") every semester. In addition, further training at other educational institutions and own projects in the mentioned fields can also be credited.

Teaching and learning outcomes

The offered courses will grant a deeper look at contents in the fields of theatre pedagogy as well as performing arts. The actual courses will refer to the current developments in each field.

The total workload for the module is 150 hours (see also "ECTS credit points and grading").

Remark on the assessment methods

80% attendance in each of the 2-4 elective courses totalling at least 4 SWS. Further training at other educational institutions as well as own project work can also be credited.

Recommended prior knowledge

As a rule, previous knowledge is not necessary and will be published with the announcement of a seminar. Some seminars are offered in English language.

The students expand their knowledge of the sub-disciplines of theater pedagogy as well as the performing arts.

Knowledge deepening

The students have in-depth knowledge in self-selected sub-areas of theater pedagogy and the performing arts.

Knowledge Understanding

The students reflect on the new content and place it in the context of the knowledge they have already acquired.

Application and Transfer

The students can evaluate the mediated content in the context of artistic or theater-pedagogical processes and apply this in further study projects.

Academic Innovation

The students can check the content conveyed in the context of artistic or theater-pedagogical processes and draw conclusions for further independent work.

Communication and Cooperation

The students can justify and explain the use of the mediated content.

Academic Self-Conception / Professionalism

The students can contextualize the use of the mediated content in relation to other content.

Linkage to other modules

The seminars of this module usually tie in with study contents already touched upon and offer an opportunity for in-depth study. Some seminars only offer an introduction to sub-areas of performing arts or theatre pedagogy.
