We intend that our degree programs and all research and transfer activities make a significant contribution to the transformation of society and the economy with regard to the challenges ahead. That is why we network intensively with our regional environment and establish transfer and innovation alliances with companies, public and civil society actors. These collaborations lead to numerous internships and practical projects, which are anchored in the curriculum in 80 percent of the degree programs. All professors and senior lecturers have at least five years of practical professional experience. External lecturers from the working world bring current practical requirements into teaching. This enables our students to think and act in a scientifically based and practical way and strengthens their problem-solving skills and creativity.

dual Bachelor's degree programs
The Bachelor's degree programs in Public Administration, Business Administration, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Midwifery Science (practice-integrated) and Nursing (practice-integrated) can be studied dual in combination with vocational training.

The Bachelor's degree programs in Nursing Management, Nursing Science and Physiotherapy as well as the Master's degree programs in Auditing, Finance and Taxation, Health Management, Higher Education and Research Management, Musculoskeletal Therapy (Manual Therapy – OMPT) and Public Management can be studied part-time.

In all study areas, the diversity of study program formats is to be increased in order to tailor the study program to different target groups.

Fields of action
The Faculty has excellent networks with companies, institutions and public bodies. This learning and transfer collaboration benefits both the students who gain access to companies as a place of learning in the form of theses, internships or scientific practical projects, and the companies themselves, which can gain scientifically based know-how and establish contacts with future specialists.
With around 20,000 employees, the health and social sector is by far the largest employer in the region. The Faculty cooperates with 140 companies in this industry and is currently training around 2,500 students in various health and social study programs. A second important network exists with public employers, with whom the Faculty currently maintains around 40 permanent collaborations and 250 other contacts.
Around 60 students are currently receiving support through a "Deutschlandstipendium" (Germany scholarship program), which is provided by companies, associations, clubs and other non-governmental institutions.
As a Faculty of a University of Applied Sciences, the “Science2Application” approach is particularly important. It stands for the seamless connection of scientific research with concrete practical applications. With its direct focus on real challenges, innovative findings can be transferred directly into application.
Since 2020, the Faculty has been working on 54 application-related research projects with a funding total of around 42 million euros to develop innovative solutions for specific problems. A large number of them are put into practice in close cooperation with regional and international companies, administrations and other institutions. This not only promotes technology transfer, but also strengthens regional development, contributes to solving global challenges and ensures that research results do not remain just on paper but are actually translated into products, services or management practices.
The over 70 doctorates that have been awarded at the faculty since 2020 make a significant contribution to bridging the gap between science and practice. In the context of Science2Application, doctoral candidates not only deepen their expertise, but also make a direct contribution to the practical application of their research results. The many publications by the Faculty's scientists not only serve the scientific community, but often also serve as a guide for practice-relevant innovations.
Using Science2Application, the Faculty transfers scientific know-how into tangible applications and thus makes a significant contribution to the development of society, administration and the economy. Current examples include the research project “Climate-adapted events through resilient value chains”, the BMBF-funded Digital Progress Hub for Health CAEHR to improve health care for cardiovascular diseases, or the research project PA.H|LIFETIME.ai, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), to improve the health of Professional musicians and for the development of the new global discipline of musician physiotherapy in cooperation with the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI).
